Share your business experience, learn from others: Creazioneer Institute opens the African Enterprise Dynamics Survey

The Creazioneer Institute, Inc. invites owners and senior managers of businesses across Africa to share their experience in the African Enterprise Dynamics Survey, open from 1 to 22 November 2026. The survey asks what happened to each business in the last 12 months, good and bad, and how the business responded. What businesses share becomes published research that every business can learn from, whether or not it took part; the first public report follows in the first quarter of 2027.

Your experience, shared

Every business meets problems, sudden events, changes and opportunities, and every response holds lessons: what helped, what got in the way, and who carried the cost. Most of those lessons stay inside the business that learned them. The survey gathers them, so that the experience of one business can help others facing similar conditions.

Respondents describe the most important thing that happened to their business in the last 12 months; the outside conditions that played a part; what the business did, and the decisions and extra work it took; and the effects on the business and on others. Good and bad outcomes are asked about separately, so the survey records both. At the end, respondents can also agree to let what they described be used as an example in the Institute’s reports, without their name or their business’s name.

Learning that comes back to every business

The exchange runs both ways. Every business that takes part adds its experience to the shared picture, and every business can learn from what the research finds:

  • For everyone, at no cost: the Institute publishes its findings in an annual public report, with the first report in the first quarter of 2027. It is open to all businesses, including those that did not take part and those that take part without choosing any follow-up.
  • For participants who want more: a monthly report for participants from early 2027 that shares practices used by other businesses, a private profile of their own answers beside group results, and an invitation to a private results webinar. Each is a separate choice, and none is required to take part.

The survey establishes a baseline for the African Enterprise Dynamics research program. With their consent, participating businesses can be invited to later rounds, so that the program can follow how businesses change over time and keep returning what it learns.

About the research program

African Enterprise Dynamics is a long-term, mixed-method research program on how startups and small and medium enterprises face problems, organize their work, make decisions, innovate, build capabilities and adapt to changing conditions. It begins in Africa and is designed to extend to entrepreneurs in other regions and contexts. The survey builds on the program’s background research, completed in October 2026, which reviewed existing studies, datasets and measurement approaches across eighteen topic clusters.

Who can take part

  • Owners, co-owners and senior executives, such as managing directors and chief operating officers, including founders of startups that are already operating.
  • Businesses of any size operating in any African country, including non-profit organizations that sell goods or services. Businesses fully owned by a government are not included.
  • Respondents aged 18 or older, with up to two people from the same business.

The survey is online, in English, and takes 20 to 30 minutes. Taking part is voluntary: respondents can skip any question, stop at any time, and save their place to finish later.

Privacy

The Institute does not publish the names of respondents or their businesses, and it reports answers only in groups. Respondents can ask for their answers to be removed within 30 days after they finish the survey. Any email address given for the optional follow-ups is stored apart from the survey answers.
